- 1. What educational programs are offered?
- The Laguna Playhouse offers a rich variety of programs for young people to study theatre including workshops classes and our acclaimed, audition-only Youth Conservatory. To speak with our expert staff about any of these opportunities, please contact our Education Department at (949) 497-2787 Ext. 202.
- 2. How many students do you take in each class?
- Workshop classes are generally limited to 10 students. Certain classes can accommodate a larger enrollment and our summer classes often handle a larger number of students. Please contact our Education Department for details at (949) 497-2787 Ext. 202 for details.
- 3. How do I get into the Youth Conservatory program?
- Students are auditioned and both students and parents are interviewed once a year, in May or June, for a place the following year in our Youth Conservatory. Membership in the Youth Theatre Conservatory is a significant family commitment so we require the parent or legal guardian to accompany a student who is auditioning to become a member of the group.
- 4. Is there a performance at the end of the class session?
- Yes, there is a class demonstration at the end of each class session.
- 5. My child already has experience and training but does not meet the age requirement.
- The curriculum for classes at The Laguna Playhouse is designed to challenge each student, individually, regardless of skill level. We also look closely at the maturity of the student when structuring our classes to ensure a nurturing and positive class experience for everyone. Although special arrangements might be made, and each situation is handled on a case by case basis, generally the age requirements are firm for all classes.
- 6. How old do you have to be to get cast in a play?
- The general age requirement to audition for a show at The Laguna Playhouse Youth Theatre is ten years old. However, occaisionally younger students may be used depending on the casting needs of the play.
- 7. Does The Laguna Playhouse tour to schools?

This touring program offers performances that support and address the California State Standards for K-6th grades by offering historic and literature based curriculum and study units as plays.
