A fast paced evening of seven eclectic dances, including the powerful and bold work Train choreographed by the artistic director of the Alvin Ailey Dance Company, Robert Battle, and a percussive, spirited solo Beat shaped by Ashley Roland, and a vibrant full-company celebration of Cuba’s legacy of music and dance, Habaneras the Music of Cuba with choreography by artistic director of River North Dance Chicago, Frank Chaves.

BalletX is an intensely innovative and adventurous company that produces sophisticated, striking choreography, expanding the vocabulary of classical dance for all audiences.

The evening represents the very best in contemporary dance.  Largo, set to the music of J.S. Bach's Goldberg Variations, is inspired by the decorative tableaux "Progress of Love" by French painter Jean-Honore Fragonard, choreography by Edwaard Liang.  Matthew Neenan’s The Last Glass is a striking and whimsical ballet set to the music of American indie rock band Beirut, showcasing how dance can make an audience member consider the many ways artists are able to express themselves in movement.   The evening is made complete by the world premier performance of a powerful and intoxicating ballet choreographed by Jodie Gates.

Our signature evening bringing the best of American dance to Laguna Beach including Joaquin DeLuz and guest artists from New York City Ballet, principal dancers from Colorado Ballet, appearances by BalletX and outstanding local artists.  This is an evening not to be missed!
