First LADCC Award

MARCH 20, 2007 - LAGUNA BEACH, CALIFORNIA – The Laguna Playhouse is pleased to announce that its 2006 staging of the West Coast premiere of A Marvelous Party: The Noël Coward Celebration, received an award for Distinguished Achievement in Production at the 38th Annual Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards ceremony held on Monday, March 19, 2007 at the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood.

A musical revue showcasing the witty songs and sparkling repartee of the great Noël Coward, A Marvelous Party was also nominated in the categories of Musical Direction and Ensemble Performance. Although The Laguna Playhouse has been nominated for LADCC awards in the past, this is the first time The Playhouse has received a LADCC award.

Accepting the Distinguished Achievement in Production award on behalf of The Laguna Playhouse were Executive Director Richard Stein and A Marvelous Party creator and director David Ira Goldstein.

“We’re elated that the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle chose to recognize our production of A Marvelous Party,” said Stein. “The show was very popular with audiences, and obviously with the critics, too. It’s encouraging to know that the Los Angeles theater community appreciates the work we’re doing down here in Orange County.”
