MAY 23, 2007 - LAGUNA BEACH, CALIFORNIA – Children ages 9 through 17 can explore the magic of live theatre in a stimulating and entertaining environment when they enroll in The Laguna Playhouse Summer 2007 Youth Theatre Classes that start on July 9, 2007.
These two-week classes are held Monday through Friday at The Laguna Playhouse Production Center in Laguna Hills, and are taught by working theatre professionals who have many years of experience in youth theatre. The classes culminate on July 20 with a final performance for family and friends.
Classes include Kids on Broadway (a musical theatre workshop for children ages 9-12), and Teen Acting Workshop (an acting and improve class for teens ages 13-17).
Registration deadline is July 1, 2007. Class sizes are limited and fill quickly. Cost ranges from $300 to $500 per class. A limited number of partial scholarships are available for those students who could not otherwise participate.

Summer 2007 Youth Theatre Classes
KIDS ON BROADWAY - Musical Theatre Workshop
(A Revue of Songs, Scenes and Monologues)
Ages: 9 – 12
Date: July 9 – 20
Day/Time: Monday – Friday / 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Fee: $500
Instructors: Kathy Harris and Bill Wolfe
Location: Laguna Playhouse Production Center in Laguna Hills
Children study acting, music and movement. This class is good for beginners as well as more experienced students. Learn how to present a song and monologue, and work on group numbers with professionals in the field. The workshop includes skill building and the creation of a showcase performance. Each student will receive individual instruction and coaching.
TEEN ACTING WORKSHOP
Ages: 13 – 17
Date: July 9 – 20
Day/Time: Monday – Friday / 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Fee: $300
Instructor: Jane Hilary
Location: Laguna Playhouse Production Center in Laguna Hills
Teens study acting, improvisation and how to audition. Learn how to work on scenes and monologues. This class is a crash course for teens that are looking for an exceptional summer workshop. Evening class leaves plenty of time to go to the beach or have a summer job.
Instructor Bios
Kathy Cannarozzi-Harris is the Director of Theatre at Mission Viejo High School and has been recognized statewide for artistic excellence in programming. Kathy has an MA in Theatre from Penn State, is a freelance director, private coach, and has worked at The Playhouse for the last eight years as a director and teacher in our Youth Theatre Program.Kathy has directed over 120 productions and has been teaching for over 20 years. Kathy is a member of the prestigious California Arts Project in San Diego.
Jane Hilary comes from England where she studied at the Royal Theatre Company as well as taught and directed both adults and young people.Jane is a former South Coast Repertory Professional Conservatory member and former Artistic Director of Shakespeare by the Sea. Jane currently teaches, directs, stage manages, and performs.She’s a novice fiddle player and works her skills at various fiddler gatherings.She is currently stage managing for The Laguna Playhouse TheatreReach Program.
Bill Wolfe is a multi-talented musical director, voice and piano teacher, workshop leader, composer, and performer. Bill has a BA in Music Education from Cal State Fullerton. He’s been the musical director for more than 200 shows from coast to coast and in Hawaii.Bill teaches all ages and has successful students on Broadway and in Hollywood. He created The Lifesong Workshop, a creative self-esteem program with 350 graduates in 15 years.Bill sings tenor with Pacific Chorale, is a church choir director and an accompanist for many functions.He loves working with young people and truly believes in the creative spirit we all have.
