OUR MISSION

The Laguna Playhouse's commitment to our community is reflected in our mission: To enrich lives through the magic of live theatre, to provide educational opportunities for children and adults, and to create experiences that stimulate cultural and social interaction and inspire our community.

The Laguna Playhouse is a community treasure.  It survives and thrives from year to year because people who love great theatre and care about our community get involved.  They patronize the theatre.  They volunteer.  They ensure our success in a thousand ways, including making regular and generous contributions.  Annual contributions from individuals like you, businesses, and foundations are the lifeblood of the theatre.  Ticket sales alone don’t even come close to covering operational expenses in any professional nonprofit theatre, and we are no exception.

The work of producing great mainstage plays, developing new audiences, providing award-winning educational programming for young people, and offering life enriching community outreach programs, together with the overarching pursuit of excellence in all we do, requires the support of those who appreciate great theatre in their community.  Your annual contribution to The Laguna Playhouse ensures that our work will continue and that it thrives.   We hope you will join us today.

Bringing Theatre Arts to Young People

Our nationally-recognized Youth Theatre provides an array of theater experiences to young audiences, including fully-staged productions of well-known popular books and stories geared for family audiences.

Theatre for a New Generation offers vivid stage dramas about the challenges faced by teens that are intended to both entertain and stimulate discussion among young people, parents and educators.

TheatreReach: Bringing Books to LIfe is an award-winning in-school program that brings professionally staged productions into more than 100 schools throughout Southern California every year. Engaging and interactive, these plays are one-hour adaptations of popular children’s books approved by California Dept. of Education for K-6 literature and history curriculum.  While thousands of elementary school children enjoy these performances, dozens of schools remain on waiting lists, unable to participate due to lack of funding.

Our Conservatory and Repertory program is unique in the region for its approach to theatre education for young people. Taught by working theatre professionals, the Conservatory offers talented adolescents a small-enrollment, high-level program of instruction in acting, production stage crafts and drama. The Laguna Playhouse also offers a variety of theatre classes for children and teens ages six and up.
Contributions to this program in any amount are encouraged.

Your Gift Helps Build A Stronger Community

For nearly 90 years, The Laguna Playhouse has produced a wide spectrum of outstanding work, and has offered young people their first theatrical experience. Help us continue to do just that. We invite you to play a starring role with The Laguna Playhouse and your community by becoming a member of The Laguna Playhouse through your annual donation. In doing so, you not only support great theatre in your community, but also your own lives will be enriched by the value of your commitment and through  a wide range of social, artistic and educational activities for you, your family and friends. Playhouse contributors enjoy personalized service and patron privileges reserved for our family of supporters—our way of expressing our gratitude.  Your gift of any amount ensures that The Laguna Playhouse will continue to be a leader in theatre arts in your community. Only with the loyal support of our donors can we sustain the great performances, dynamic new productions, and educational and community outreach programs that make The Laguna Playhouse a vital component of the community landscape.  The need is urgent; the time is now.

The Laguna Playhouse works hard to keep its productions accessible to the broadest audience possible by keeping ticket prices affordable.  To do so, we rely on charitable contributions to cover 40% of our operating income.  Without support from our theatre patrons and a broad cross-section of the community, we simply would not be able to bring you the kind of high-quality mainstage performances, and exceptional educational and community outreach programs our community has come to enjoy.

The Laguna Playhouse is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit public benefit organization.  Your gift is tax-deductible to the extent of the law.  Our Federal ID is 95-1509841

Thank you for your generosity!
