Support Groups

The Laguna Playhouse Needs You … Won’t You Join One of our Support Groups?

The Laguna Playhouse is blossoming in new and exciting directions —and much of it is because of your loyalty and support.  As we look to the future, we are hopeful that you will become more engaged with us by becoming a member of one of our support groups.  Whether you give of your time, talent and/or treasure, we need you!  We offer several opportunities for involvement:

Playhouse Women

Playhouse Women (PW) is a support group established in 2007 to develop awareness of, and support for, The Laguna Playhouse.  PW is comprised of women with a variety of talents and interests, including executives, community leaders, working moms, business owners, artists and others. All value great theatre in their community and want to ensure its long-term success.

Playhouse Women work together to designate and raise funds for specific projects that directly benefit The Laguna Playhouse.  The group also hosts special informational and friend-raising events for its members.  Membership dues are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Playhouse Parents

Playhouse Parents  — For parents whose children are active in our Youth Theatre program. Playhouse Parents (PP) is the Conservatory and Repertory parent organization of the Youth Theatre.  It is primarily a fund-raising organization and is instrumental in the fiscal well being of The Laguna Playhouse Youth Theatre Programs.  Each parent (family) commits to attending meetings, working in the Lobby at Youth Theatre Productions, participating in major fundraising activities, and holding leadership positions (as Officers) in the organization.

The purpose of the Playhouse Parents Association is to serve the Laguna Playhouse Youth Theatre in the following ways:

  • To coordinate and participate in fund-raising for the Youth Theatre and by participating in public relations events.
  • To organize and staff the lobby concessions for all Youth Theatre productions.
  • To demonstrate active support of your child’s Youth Theatre activities.
  • To promote the Laguna Playhouse Youth Theatre in the community.
  • To educate the community about the need for theatre and the arts in the lives of young people.

Playhouse Volunteer Auxiliary

Whether you’re a high school student, a senior citizen – or any age in between – you will be welcomed as a Volunteer Auxiliary member. The Development Coordinator in the Development Department of the Playhouse maintains a list of members who wish to volunteer — who have signed up with their e-mail address, snail mail address and phone number.  As needs arise, notices are e-mailed to those on the list to see if anyone is interested and/or available to help with needs as they arise.

How You Can Volunteer
The types of volunteer assistance the Playhouse needs:

Special event support.  The Laguna Playhouse’s Development Department organizes over two dozen events a year.  As a non-profit organization, the Development staff is very small, and needs all the help it can get!  If you sign up to help with events, some of the volunteer options you might want to be a part of include:

  • Serving on an event organizing committee (the annual gala committee, for example, might be a 9-month planning process from beginning through execution)
  • Working at the check-in tables at an event
  • Helping to secure auction items for events
  • Selling raffle tickets at an event
  • Assisting in the set-up or break-down of an event.
  • Decorating facilities at an event
  • Writing thank you notes after an event

Mailings.  The Development Department of the Playhouse is constantly sending out mailings related to renewals, invitations, announcements and more.  If you are in our Volunteer Auxiliary, you might receive notices to request help to:

  • Hand address envelopes
  • Stuff, seal and stamp envelopes
Misc. office projects.  (Data base work, filing, phone calling, etc.)

Special projects.
Projects could include:
  • Spring cleaning.
  • Paint projects.
  • More.

Benefits
Those who serve as Auxiliary Volunteers will receive tickets to plays (space available) upon completion of each volunteer assignment (typically three hours for one ticket).  Members will also receive SEAT OPENING ALERTS when there are nights where seats are not all filled for a performance.  And members will be recognized twice each year for their special support to the Playhouse.
