General Theatre Technician

Reports to: Production Manager & Technical Director

Position Status: Hourly, Temporary, Non-Exempt

Salary: $17.50/hr

About Us: Laguna Playhouse, a nationally acclaimed, non-profit, professional theatre located in the charming arts colony of Laguna Beach, CA seeks a General Theatre Technician. Reporting directly to the Technical Director or production department heads, General Technicians shall function as support labor for production related tasks at The Laguna Playhouse.

About the Position and Responsibilities: General Theatre Technician is an overhire position that will provide technical support for production related tasks at The Laguna Playhouse, including, but not limited to, scenic changeover of set and soft goods, hang and focus lights, run audio cables, construction of scenery, unloading and loading trucks/containers, and opportunity to work on crew during tech or production runs as needed basis.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of standard theatrical production practices preferred, but not required
  • Working knowledge of standard theatrical equipment and terminology is a plus.
  • Willingness to adhere to the Playhouse’s safety protocols and policies
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a team-player mindset.
  • Ability to lift 35lbs (pending department) and work on your feet.
  • Must be comfortable working in heights of up to 25 feet, but not required.
