Rita Rudner
RITA RUDNER (Fenella Fennington/Playwright) began her career on Broadway in the 1970s, appearing in several musicals, including PROMISES, PROMISES, FOLLIES and MACK AND MABEL. In 1980, while performing in ANNIE, Rita decided to swap chorus lines for punchlines. After an apprenticeship in Manhattan comedy clubs, she began appearing regularly on American television in her own cable TV specials and on the late-night TV talk show circuit. As well as performing solo concerts all over America and the world for almost forty years, Rita has been a successful and award-winning screenwriter and best-selling author of six books. In 2001, the MGM Corporation built Rita her own theatre on the Las Vegas Strip. Rita’s memoir, MY LIFE IN DOG YEARS, was published in November. This is Rita’s fifth production at the Laguna Playhouse.

MIKE MCSHANE (Jarvis Haverly) is a veteran film and television actor, improvisor, and has performed on stages from London to Broadway. Mike got his start with Faultline - a groundbreaking improv troupe based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Brian Michael Jones

BRIAN MICHAEL JONES (Ezra) is thrilled to make his Laguna debut with STAGED. Favorite projects include HAIL CAESAR!, WILL AND GRACE, and THE MUPPETS on ABC. He’s also puppeteered and performed in Brian Henson’s improv show PUPPET UP in Las Vegas. He’s improvised shows with ImproTheatre, The Groundlings and Improv Olympic. His vocal work includes STAR VS. THE FORCES OF EVIL and Jim Henson’s UNSTABLE FABLES. As a mime, you can see him on DANGERFORCE, LIZA ON DEMAND, and SIDE HUSTLE. He plays Emmet in the short film FRANK AND EMMET which is currently showing at festivals during its Oscar campaign. He currently lives in Nashville, TN with his wife and four children

A director/performer with Impro Theatre for 25 years in UNSCRIPTED. Plays: L.A. NOIR (Presidio, Litquake, Wallis-Annenberg, OSF), TENNESSEE WILLIAMS (Odyssey Theater/South Coast), DICKENS (Broad Stage/North Coast Rep) and SHAKESPEARE (OSF Green Show, Pasadena Playhouse.) Other stage credits: ACT, Shakespeare Santa Cruz, The Magic Theater and LIFEGAME Off-Broadway with Improbable. His tortured crooner, Johnny Lonely, garnered praise in London, Seattle and Australia, and Johnny’s first album, ”The One and Lonely, Johnny Lonely,” ships in February. ANNIE ABRAMS (Katya) is thrilled to be back at the Laguna Playhouse after last appearing as Ursula in TICKLED PINK with Rita Rudner. Other theatre credits include Miss Mackintosh in THE SUNSHINE BOYS, opposite Danny DeVito and Judd Hirsch (CTG, Ahmanson Theatre), Vanda in VENUS IN FUR(ETC), Tamsin in THE MONSTER BUILDER (South Coast Rep), Pamela/Margaret/Annabella in THE 39 STEPS (TheatreWorks), Brooke in NOISES OFF (La Mirada Theatre), and Philia in A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM (Reprise). TV credits include “Major Crimes,” “How I Met Your Mother,” “True Blood,” and “King of Queens.” Annie is an L.A. native and received a B.A. in drama from Stanford University.

KELLY HOLDEN BASHAR (Gerry/Waitress/Attendant) is delighted to be in another world premiere play with Rita Rudner after appearing with her in TWO’S A CROWDat the 59E59 Theatre in NYC. She has performed at The Broad Stage, Wallis Annenberg Center, Gary Marshall Theatre and the Ford Amphitheater. Some of her favorite screen credits include FARGO, SCORPION, SPEECHLESS, MARLON, PARKS AND RECREATION, GILMORE GIRLS, and the film THANKS(once again with Rita Rudner). Kelly is a writer and one credit she is most proud of is co-writing (and portraying “Pippin” in), the critically acclaimed play FELLOWSHIP! THE MUSICAL PARODY OF “THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING” which won NYMF, LA Weekly, and Saturn awards.

PATRICK VEST (Male Understudy) is delighted to be back at the Laguna Playhouse. He was recently seen as Herbert and the Bailiff in Love Among the Ruins. He earned his MFA in acting from the Alabama Shakespeare Festival and has acted throughout the country. Orange County audiences may be familiar with his work for his portrayal of Mr. Doyle in THE NETHER at Wayward Artist Theatre, which earned Patrick a nomination for best supporting performance by the OC Theatre Guild. Patrick also regularly tours through Orange County with Shakespeare by the Sea, where he has played such roles as Richard III, Macbeth, Bottom, Marc Antony, Caliban, Leontes, Mercutio, Malvolio, and Iago. He was also recently seen in the Rubicon’s magical production of ALMOST, MAINE.
